Roundup for removing clover

Clover is a small but fast-spreading weed, with delicate roots meaning it is very hard to eliminate by pulling up. The foam setting on the Roundup 1 Litre spray can stop this weed in its tracks by clinging to the weed and absorbing to the root without being spread around the surrounding flower bed or lawn.

Weed tips

  • Include a weeding with a Roundup spray in plant bed preparation, one week before planting.
  • Apply Roundup XL Tough & Deep Root Weedkiller at or just after flowering, usually in June. Because nettles are host plants for a number of butterfly species it’s a good idea to leave a few unsprayed clumps in out of the way places to help butterfly conservation.

Garden maintenance in June

  • Plant out summer bedding in borders, containers and hanging baskets
  • Mow lawn and trim edges regularly. Energise tired lawns with feed
  • Harvest lettuce, radish, other salads and early potatoes
  • Prune many spring flowering shrubs
  • Sprinkle fertilizer around perennials, shrubs and roses
  • Weed and dead head to maintain beds, borders and container displays
  • Introduce new fish to pond
  • Plant new plants before summer heats up
  • Plant out tomatoes to get good crops
  • Start liquid feeding plants and bedding
