Brambles and undergrowth can rapidly overrun your garden if nothing is done about them. Indeed, brambles can gradually colonise your garden by developing underground roots, and their branches can grow as much as 4 metres!
As well as impairing the aesthetic aspect of your garden, brambles can damage neighbouring cultivated areas, and injure the children and pets who like to explore all the nooks and crannies of the garden! If you want to get rid of an area of brambles, protect yourself properly with gardening gloves, thick clothing and glasses. To clear the area more efficiently you must use an edge trimmer, a pruning knife or secateurs. Then, once the area is well rid of brambles, wait for new shoots to grow before treating them with a Roundup weedkiller for difficult weeds and weeds with deep roots. The brambles will then be destroyed down to the root, and you can replant the area after one week.
